The "Nanomaterials and Nanotechnologies" Science Research Laboratory was established in 2016 under the "Oil-Mechanical" Faculty at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University. The main research areas of the laboratory are genuinely multidisciplinary and cover components of chemistry, physics, engineering, as well as materials science. Our laboratory conducts cutting-edge research on the design, synthesis, and investigation of new inorganic functional materials for high-tech applications, as well as the creation and application of industrially important materials and new technological processes. The laboratory’s work is organized around three groups, each led by a senior scientist. Some of the groups also include non-permanent staff scientists and research engineers.

Current research focus:

  • Obtention and study of functional materials based on metal pnictides, chalcogenides, and magnesium alloys.
  • Creation and application of new technological processes in the preparation of industrially important equipment.
  • Obtention of industrially important chemicals and materials; creation and application of various technological processes.

The laboratory is fully equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for experimentation in the synthesis and characterization of new materials, analytical chemistry, physicochemical analysis methods, etc. Moreover, we have active collaborations with research universities and groups working in both Azerbaijan and foreign countries to cooperate on different research projects. Through collaboration with partner institutions across the world, we have access to special laboratory facilities that allow us to use unique modern equipment in our research. Over the past two years, our team members have published more than 40 research papers.

Some of the permanent staff of the laboratory are thesis supervisors of bachelor's and master's degree students in the faculty.
